What do we mean when we talk about safety? In a simple sentence safety is all about protecting people from danger, risk, injury and illness. This immediately highlights how important safety is. But it is not a new concept - way back in Old Testament biblical times the importance of safety was understood.

“When you build a house, you must build a railing around the edge of its flat roof. That way you will not be considered guilty of murder if someone falls from the roof” (Deuteronomy 22:8, NLT)

Today, community expectations about safety are expressed in Work Health & Safety legislation where the safety obligations of employers, workers, volunteers, visitors and others are described.

One of the roles of Risk Management Service (RMS) is to help the Seventh-day Adventist Church with its safety obligations. When we do this we are mindful of both the modern legislative environment and the Christian care for one another evidenced so clearly in the life of Jesus Christ.

At RMS we work with all levels of the Seventh-day Adventist Church from local church congregations right through to our large institutions. Our work is consultative – raising safety awareness and supporting church organisations with the development of their safety systems.

We help in a number of ways including:
  • Safety advice and consultation
  • Safety training
  • Access to safety subscriptions, services and experts
  • Safety templates and documents
  • Safety library (DVDs that can be loaned)
  • Safety Management System (under development)
If your Seventh-day Adventist Church organisation needs help with safety then please contact us on +61 2 9847 3371.
