The Risk Management Service (RMS) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Risk Officer – Enterprise Risk to join our team in Wahroonga, NSW in the new year.

About the SPD

The South Pacific Division (SPD) is the administrative headquarters for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific islands. Its mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and support our communities through faith, service, and integrity.

Risk Management Service (RMS) is a service of the SPD dedicated to helping the church to manage risks and administer its insurance programs across the region. It plays a vital role in helping church organisations achieve their mission by managing their risk.

About the Role

As the Senior Risk Officer – Enterprise Risk, you will:

  • Develop an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework for implementation across the South Pacific Division.
  • Support church organisations in adopting tailored ERM solutions.
  • Conduct risk reviews, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Develop risk management resources and tools.
  • Provide expert advice on insurance policy wording and loss resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance risk culture and resilience.

Selection criteria

Essential

  • Practising baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission, lifestyle, and values.
  • Tertiary qualified in Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or IT.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in risk management, finance or similar roles.
  • Maintain membership with relevant professional organisations.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office and presentation tools.
  • Willingness to travel across the South Pacific (Australian passport and driver’s licence required).
  • Commitment to pursuing insurance qualifications (e.g. ANZIIF Diploma of Loss Adjusting).

Preferred

  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the Church and its management throughout the SPD.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical insurance and legal documents.
  • Experience implementing risk management frameworks.
