Healthy Festive Smoothie

RMS enjoyed a special treat during morning worship – a green smoothie recipe with a message.

Maurie, our hard-working accountant, invited his lovely wife Luba to share their health journey as well as prepare a delicious green smoothie for the RMS team.

Luba related three eye-opening Bible texts which mention greens and reminds us of how important it is to take care of our health by way of prevention rather than cure. (Look up Genesis 1:11-12, Jeremiah 17:7-8 and Revelation 22:2)

“Prevention is what we uphold at RMS when talking about safety and risk management,” states Maurie, “it makes sense to apply that principle to our health and well-being also.”

Maurie and Luba have certainly been practicing this message with regular exercise, healthful vegetarian eating and regular green smoothies, and as a result they are both pictures of health and wellness!

Inspired by their testimony, we thought we’d share Luba’s smoothie recipe with you – we think it is a lovely festive looking drink, and a healthy alternative to non-alcoholic eggnog!


2 cups chilled water (filtered)
Kale x 4 stalks
Strawberries 1 punnet
Mango x 2
Banana x 2
Kiwis x 3
¼ cup mint leaves
¼ cup basil leaves
1 inch piece of ginger
Ice cubes x 10 (filtered water)

Place all ingredients in the blender in the order of the recipe. Blend on high for 30 seconds. Pour into glass, decorate with a half sliced strawberry on the rim of the glass.
